After delivery: who to call, parts, and what to keep up.
The unit leaves Wakarusa with a walkthrough, the panel drawing and the warranty registered. This page is for the years after.
Who to call
| When | Who to call |
|---|---|
| Anything on the body or the conversion | HLE main line, 574-343-2150. Have the VIN ready. |
| A warranty claim or registration | Kelly Stephens, Warranty, through the main line, or [email protected]. |
| A unit that is down, anywhere in the country | The main line. HLE keeps a field-service technician on the road with a purpose-built service trailer; when the warranty work can be done on site, the trailer comes to the unit at no charge. See below. |
| The chassis, engine or drivetrain | Your nearest dealer for the chassis maker (Ford, Chevrolet, Freightliner, International, Mercedes-Benz, Ram). The chassis carries the maker's warranty, not HLE's. |
| Installed equipment | The equipment maker; each piece carries its own warranty. Call the main line if you are not sure who made it. |
Field service
If a unit goes down, the shop comes to it.
HLE keeps a full-time field-service technician on the road with a trailer the plant built for the job: a mobile shop with the tools, parts and equipment to do warranty and repair work on any HLE vehicle, wherever it is. Indiana or California, the trailer goes to the unit. A program on wheels cannot wait for a slot at a dealer three states away, and as far as we know no other specialty builder keeps a shop on the road for it.
Transport to the plant or a service center is the owner's cost, as the written warranty states. When warranty work can be done on site, HLE sends its field-service trailer to the unit at no charge; work that needs the plant comes to Wakarusa.
Call the main line with the VIN and where the unit is; the warranty department schedules the visit.
Parts
Replacement parts for the HLE body and conversion stay available for at least 2 years beyond the warranty period. The panel drawing delivered with the unit tells your fleet shop which circuit is which.
What the warranty does not cover
Corrosion from road chemicals is excluded. Wash the underbody through the salt season; it is the cheapest maintenance a unit gets.
Maintenance the warranty asks for
- Vans and conversions: reseal the roof every 12 months.
- HLE-built bodies: inspect the roof every 6 months, per the written structural warranty.
- Keep the record: date, mileage and who did the work. A claim goes faster with it.
The written warranty for your unit sets the intervals; if it differs from this list, it governs. The terms are on warranty.
